[ChenLi Education × FarHugs] Let Us Hold an Umbrella Over You — Jointly Safeguarding the Mental Health of Young People
[Partnership Announcement] Let Us Hold an Umbrella Over You! ChenLi Education and FarHugs Jointly Safeguard the Mental Health of Young People
Mei-mei, who just entered her third year of junior high, is overwhelmed by a succession of school exams and mock tests, worried that her performance will slip and her grades will fall. She has stopped eating properly, hides in her room after dinner every night, feels like she can never finish all the reading no matter how hard she tries, and wakes up each morning gripped by anxiety...
Xiao-yu, who was always lively at school, underwent a dramatic personality change after the start of the second semester of seventh grade — he rarely smiles anymore, spends recess alone, and seems to have something weighing on his mind. When the homeroom teacher contacted his parents, it emerged that Xiao-yu's mother and father were in the middle of divorce proceedings and the atmosphere at home was bleak...
Depression Is Trending Younger — Nearly 40% of Junior and Senior High School Students Struggle with Emotional Problems
We have all been through adolescence and arrived at our respective adult lives. Looking back, what support systems got us through?
In recent years, major surveys have repeatedly shown that depression is trending younger. According to research, nearly 40% of junior and senior high school students have experienced or are currently experiencing emotional difficulties, and 13.8% report "noticeable depressive emotions." When researchers looked more closely at the sources of stress for young people, the top three were: academic exams, uncertainty about the future, and appearance-related anxiety.
When asked, "When you feel down, do you seek help from others?" more than 80% of young people said they "don't necessarily seek help," "don't want to bother others," or "can't find the words." In other words, most young people today, when they encounter emotional difficulties or mental and physical imbalance, don't actually know how to seek help or who to turn to.
ChenLi Education Partners with FarHugs to Pioneer Mental Health Services in the Tutoring Industry
Moved by the persistence of this phenomenon in everyday life, Taiwan's largest K12 education group — Excellence and Success / ChenLi Education, took a groundbreaking step beyond the education sector and partnered with Taiwan's largest online mental health service platform, FarHugs, to jointly hold up a great umbrella of emotional support for young students, accompanying and helping them with their mental wellbeing.
It is precisely because ChenLi Education has walked alongside students for so long that it has felt deeply the academic pressure and interpersonal difficulties that adolescents face, and has observed that most students find it difficult to open up to family and friends around them.
For this reason, ChenLi Education and FarHugs have joined hands to pioneer mental health care services in the tutoring industry — going forward, ChenLi Education students can log in to the FarHugs platform at any time from anywhere, browse FarHugs courses specially tailored for teenagers, covering everything from improving focus to understanding one's own emotions. Whatever emotional challenges young people may encounter in daily life, there is a mental safety net jointly built by ChenLi Education and FarHugs — ready to catch you!
FarHugs courses have the following features:
- Courses are completed via remote video — no need to leave home, reducing the psychological pressure of seeking in-person help
- Coaches do more than simply listen to worries; through professional techniques, they honor the participant's emotions and feelings, guide them to uncover the root of problems, and help resolve difficulties
- FarHugs coaches are bound by a professional code of conduct and a "duty of confidentiality" — unless in exceptional circumstances, they will not disclose the participant's identity or the content of conversations to others, enabling young people who "can't find the words, or don't dare to speak" to open up and share their troubles
Caring Not Just for Students, But for Tutoring Staff Too
In addition to looking after the mental wellbeing of young students, ChenLi Education equally cares about the physical and mental balance of its own employees. Deeply aware of the mental pressure and emotional labor that tutoring industry workers carry, ChenLi Education has specifically partnered with the FarHugs platform on a corporate wellness program. Going forward, ChenLi Education employees can also log in to the platform at any time, book a FarHugs session, and take that first step toward exploring themselves and healing their emotions — finding an anchor in daily life and becoming a brighter version of themselves.
